A singer, guitarist and songwriter from the Leiden area, with blues and soul at the heart of everything he plays.
Off stage, Lothar is calm and thoughtful. He chooses his words with care and keeps the attention on the music. On stage, all of that turns into feeling, and the people listening can sense it straight away.
His music lives in the blues and in soul: the groove, the honesty, the weight one well-placed note can carry. He plays with focus and with a lot of heart.
He plays guitar with the Robbert Fossen Band, rooted in Chicago blues, and with the Muddy Waters Tribute Band, which keeps a great blues legacy alive. With the Wouter Kiers Band, where jazz, blues and rock 'n' roll meet, he plays guitar and sings. Each of these bands has shaped the musician he is today.
In June 2021 he founded Luther's, where he sings and plays guitar alongside Dave Warmerdam, Sonny Ray and Lars Hoogland. The band has played Texel Blues, Kwadendamme Blues, Breda Jazz and Swing Wespelaar, and is working on a debut album of songs Lothar wrote.
Recently, a sound of his own has been quietly taking shape. Now he also steps out under his own name, with more of his own songs.
